The details
DATE: This workshop is June 08-12, 2022
Arrive June 8th for a bear safety class at 5pm CST which is mandatory. The workshop ends late afternoon of June 12, 2022.
Workshop limited to a maximum of 3 participants, includes 2 full days with black bears, and 2 full days exploring Vermillion Falls and the surrounding landscapes.
Bears, bears, and more bears come together in The Magic Circle. There will be bears in different color phases, black, brown, cinnamon, blonde, blue-gray and if we are lucky white. We will see plenty of interaction, mother bears with spring cubs and yearlings of all sizes. Knowing their behavior translates into better imagery. Everyone is required to attend the bear safety class. The class will be the evening of June 8th at 5 pm. If you do not attend this session, you will NOT be allowed on the ground the morning of the 9th and will have to attend the class later that day.
Black bears will be the main focus, but there are various habitats of the Sanctuary that are home to a diverse variety of plants, birds, and animals. Keep your eyes open for pine martin, woodchuck, chipmunk, and red squirrels. Warblers and other birds are particularly abundant in June. The sanctuary is closed to the public during the day and opens at 5 pm to 8 pm at which time we can remain on the ground, but under the viewing platform so the public may see. Don't worry there's plenty of room. This will be an outstanding opportunity to photograph the behavior and secretive life of the normally shy black bear. Gain first hand valuable insight about bear biology, ecology, and habitat. We are proud to offer this photographic workshop at this unique sanctuary.
ABOUT: This immersive workshop provides you with an exceptional photographic experience to be among the bears in their natural habitat. We will be watching for spring cubs born in January or February. These real-life teddy bears are curious about everything, have an abundance of energy, they are playful and a joy to watch even for the most experienced wildlife photographer. With many bears present, this is a great time to capture behavioral interaction and portraits, along with cubs of all sizes.
FEE: $2,395.00 includes; sanctuary fees, photographic instruction, two days with black bears, and two days exploring the white water of the Vermillion River dumping into the gorge and the various landscapes of the Orr, Minnesota area. We'll have a night session to photograph the Milky Way if we are blessed with clear skies.
NOT INCLUDED: Accommodations, meals, and transportation are not included. Please email bob@bobanddawndavis.com for accommodation recommendations.
TERMS: A $1,197.50 non-refundable retainer is required to secure your spot at the workshop. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the date of the workshop and is non-refundable.
