2017-10-22 Day Two - Mashatu, Botswana, Africa Photo Safari Day 02 - The Blind at the Watering Hole & Game Drive The morning began around 2:30am capturing the night sky. The Milky Way was visible directly East to West overhead. At the watering hole blind the action started off slowly just after day break, but soon the animals were coming in packs, Elephants, Impala, Zebra, Giraffe, and an assortment of birds. The short game drive before brunch encountered a rare daylight sighting of the Wild African Cat stalking a mole rat, not successfully though. The African cat's larger relative the Cheetah were resting in the shade of a small tree. A mother and her three older offspring. Off in the distance a small herd of Impala caught their attention, but we did not witness the success of their hunt. Afternoon Game Drive. The mother cheetah and her three sons successfully chased and caught an Impala. The mother did not kill her pray, but stunned it and taught her cubs how to hunt. As the Impala awoke the chase was on again, weakened and dazed the male cubs after several attempts completed the kill and tested together. photos by ©Bob & Dawn Davis Photography & Design 312.719.3577 Website: www.bobanddawndavis.com Blog: www.bobanddawndavis.info Facebook: www.facebook.com/bobanddawndavis Pinterest: www.pinterest.com/bobanddawndavis
